PHOENIX — A haboob is driving through the valley as a storm hits across Arizona Monday evening.
The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for the Phoenix area due to strong runoff expected to pass through the area.
Strong winds of 30 to 40 mph and blowing dust will affect parts of Maricopa and Pinal counties until 8:45 p.m.

The Arizona Department of Transportation announced that the dust storm was heading toward State Route 60 in the East Valley.

A storm hit Tucson Monday night, bringing hail, high winds, heavy rain and dust.this is Third slowest day of the monsoon season It was used to record measurable rainfall in the Tucson area, according to the National Weather Service.

What should I do during a sandstorm?
point advise the driver Never drive into a sandstorm, and if you can’t get off the highway, follow these tips.
- slow down. Get off the road safely.
- Do not stop in the travel lane or emergency lane.
- Completely off the pavement.
- Turn off all lights including flashers.
- Please apply the parking brake.
- take your foot off the brake
- Please stay in the car with your seat belt fastened
- Wait for the storm to pass.
