The City of Apache Junction’s annual Independence Day celebration will be held on Tuesday, July 4th at Superstition Shadows Park at 1091 W. Southern Ave.
The day begins with the annual Independence Day volleyball tournament at the Superstition Shadows Aquatic Center at 1091 W. Southern Ave. Registration for the free tournament opens at 7:15am. Seats are limited to the first 8 teams that register (maximum 10 players per team).Tournament starts at 8am
Spectators must pay pool admission to swim, but there is no charge to watch the tournament. Tournament participants are exempt from admission.
The Aquatic Center will be open for open swimming on July 4th from 9am to 3pm. Admission to the Aquatic Center is per day ($2 for children 17 and under, $3 for adults).
Superstition Shadows Park hosts evening events. Event gates open at 6pm. This is a free event and open to the public. A small fee applies for food and game booths. Game booths and kid-friendly activities hosted by local vendors and non-profits start at 6pm. Activities include water games, bike, wagon, and tricycle float contests (judging at 6:30 PM), inflatables, free watermelons (while supplies last), and live entertainment.
The Rhythm Edition will perform several songs on the event stage from 6:30-8:30pm, with fireworks at 8:30pm, weather permitting.
Parking is limited, so please come early. Delays are expected due to traffic restrictions. All Independence Day events will take place on city and school grounds and no consumer fireworks, alcohol, smoking glass containers, pets or weapons are allowed in the event venue or adjacent parking/viewing areas. We will inspect bags and cooler boxes brought into the facility. Please place your items in a clear bag to expedite the check-in process.
Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Please contact Parks and Recreation prior to the event with any accommodation requests. Only service animals are permitted on the premises.
Independence Day celebrations are hosted by the Republic Service, Apache Junction Sewer District, Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport, Arizona Water Company, and sponsored by Apache Junction Unified School District, Apache Junction Little League, Superstition Fire and Medical, and Apache Junction Police.
