The Prescott Valley Police received $257,000 in grants from the State of Arizona for its Human Trafficking, Terrorist, and Illegal Drugs Interdiction Program.

Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs announced on June 30 that the funding will enable the use of license plate readers and drones to detect suspected illegal traffickers and other trafficking victims, potential terrorists, and illegal drug movements. These suspects may move within PVPD jurisdiction or may already exist. PVPD shares information with other local, state, and federal agencies to apprehend these criminals. Due to the high risk of violence when apprehending suspects of this type of crime, Prescott Valley Police may use drones for arrest, surveillance and evidence collection.

Yavapai County, one of Prescott Valley’s law enforcement partners, received a $578,000 grant to the Prosecution and Incarceration Fund and a $500,000 grant to the Anti-Drug and Human Trafficking Fund.

“Governor Hobbs, thank you for the support you have given us,” said Prescott Valley Police Chief Bob Tycer. “It’s a long road and it means a lot. We want our communities to know that not only law enforcement agencies have the support, the resources and the money to fight these crimes that cost so many Arizonans, so that we can get the job done.”
