SHOW LOW, Ariz. — A 15-year-old boy who was reported missing on Lake Show Low was found dead on Monday, the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office said.
Around 8:00 pm, the contingent noticed the boy missing. Despite ground, air and boat searches, authorities were unable to locate the boy on Monday.
The search for Christopher Hampton resumed Tuesday morning, and by late afternoon authorities said his body had been found in the lake.
Authorities confirmed Tuesday night that Hampton had drowned in Lake Show Low.

ABC15 confirmed that the boy was a student at César Chavez High School. The boy was in the lake during a football camp in the area, according to the Phoenix Union High School District.
The team visited the lake after camp.
The Phoenix Union High School District released the following statement regarding the incident:
This afternoon we learned the tragic news that César Chavez High School student Christopher Hampton lost his life at Lake Show Low. We would like to extend our condolences to his family and friends who are grieving this loss. This tragedy affects every community we serve.
PXU continues to provide emotional support to affected students, staff and families. Christopher was a friend, an athlete and a kind young man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
School district and campus officials will continue to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation.
