Coconino County, Arizona — The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office reports calls from concerned residents reporting apparent phone fraud where the caller claims to be a member of the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office or another law enforcement agency have received several

Impersonating local law enforcement, scammers contact victims and accuse them of missing jury duty, having federal and local warrants, and paying fines. The caller uses a formal title and name, possibly obtained from her law enforcement website and social media. The caller said a fine or warrant would have to be paid, or an arrest warrant would be issued until it was paid.

The CCSO said law enforcement does not solicit funds or collect fines over the phone. Jury subpoenas will be sent by mail, and any other medium of communication will be considered suspicious.
