Desert 101 Hike (Registration required, Limit 12) – Animals – Events

Hike with Ranger Derik in a less traveled part of the park and enjoy sweeping views of the desert as you learn about the many plants and animals that call this unique environment home. Click program title for more details.

Get your morning started off right with a 4-mile hike on parts of the Desert Rose trail. The trail is rated as moderate and can be sandy and rocky in places so make sure to wear supportive close toed shoes. The trailhead has no bathrooms or water so make sure to plan ahead. I would recommend bringing 2 liters of water and a small daypack to carry it in. Please check the weather prior to your hike and wear appropriate clothing as it can get cold in a desert, too.

MEETING LOCATION: Desert Rose trailhead. From the main park near the nature center drive south on W Indian Springs rd. then turn right on Avenida Estrella (coyote Ln) make sure to pay the 7 dollars at the iron ranger then continue down the road then turn right into the first gravel lot and you should see a white Maricopa County ranger vehicle parked at the trailhead. The address coordinates below can be put into your phones GPS : 33.368449, -112.321315
