The Prescott Badgers started 2024 with a showing in a 79-32 win over the Mojave Thunderbirds at the Badger Dome.
Three players scored in double figures, and the Prescott defense held Mojave in check without a single player scoring more than six points. Urijah Tenet led with 30 and Zane Gall led with 22.
“It was a good game, it was a fun game,” said Cooper Magnet, who scored 14 points in his first return to home court this season. It was good that everyone got some playing time. It was great to be back on the dome court. It was a good win for the team. ”
Prescott controlled the tempo from the start. A combination of defensive pressure, turnovers, and numerous fast-break baskets gave them a 17-point lead in the first quarter.

Many of these turnovers led to a slam fest of sorts with Urijah Tenet and Zane Gaul creating their own highlight reels. When the chaos entered halftime, the Badgers held a very comfortable lead at 50-20. “We had fun and played hard,” Tenet said.
Most of the starters were rested in the second half while bench players got plenty of playing time.
Prescott (1-0) in the Grand Canyon Region and (11-3 overall) travels to Coconino tonight at 7 p.m. Mojave (1-2) and (5-7) host Flagstaff.
