Yuma man arrested for robbery and aggravated assault after crash

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – The Yuma County Sheriff's Office (YCSO) announced that a 30-year-old man has been arrested on multiple felony charges after a two-vehicle crash on the Fortuna Road overpass.

YCSO responded to the crash Wednesday afternoon and said they found a Dodge Challenger and a Ford Taurus blocking the roadway in a collision.

As the deputy approached the scene of the accident, he was told by a nearby driver that one of them appeared to have a gun, police said.

YCSO said the driver of the Ford Taurus is suspected of demanding money from the driver of the Dodge Challenger and pointing a gun at a passerby who asked him to move his vehicle from the roadway.

Investigators identified the suspect as 30-year-old Jose Heredia.

He was arrested and booked into the Yuma County Jail on charges of robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and disorderly conduct with a deadly weapon.

This incident remains under investigation.
