Decatur-built Vulcan rocket makes inaugural ‘trek’ on lunar mission


Carrying the remains of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry on board, United Launch Alliance launched its next-generation Vulcan rocket this morning, ushering in a new era of space capabilities.

Vulcan, built in Decatur, launched from Space Launch Complex-41 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at 1:18 a.m. CST, ULA announced. Vulcan offers industry-leading capabilities to deliver any payload to any orbit at any time, the company said.
