University of Alabama head football coach Nick Saban is retiring, ESPN's Chris Lowe reported this afternoon.
Saban won six national championships and seven total during his time at the University of Alabama. He became head coach in 2007 and won his first national championship in 2009.

“Saban just informed the team that he is retiring,'' Lowe said. tweeted.
Saban has won nine SEC championships and most recently led the Crimson Tide to an 11-1 season, an undefeated conference title, SEC championship and a Rose Bowl appearance.
Saban has a 292-71-1 record in 28 seasons as an FBS head coach.
