Border Patrol agents are quietly praising Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's efforts to seize property along the border, according to several Border Patrol agents who declined to be identified because they were not authorized to speak publicly. told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Agents believe they can't secure the border and states can, which is why they support Abbott's recent actions.
“I agree with that. We screwed up big time by not protecting ourselves,” the second Border Patrol agent said.
“I understand what Abbott is doing. Mayorkas is going on an invasion and he's trying to stop it. The aliens will still cross if they're serious. The only way to change this is [is] If we start enforcing the law,” a third agent told DCNF.
During President Joe Biden's tenure, illegal immigration at the southern border has exploded. Border Patrol recorded more than 2.2 million encounters on the southern border in fiscal year 2022 and more than 2 million in fiscal year 2023. according to to federal data.
“If an immigrant wants to give up and an agent is the only way to give up, they will find a new route with an agent,” a fourth agent explained.
Another investigator said he had not heard any complaints from colleagues about Mr. Abbott's behavior.
“I think for us, finally someone is doing something about the influx of people,” said a fifth agent.
Abbott's decision comes despite ongoing legal action between the governor and the Biden administration over the state's passage of a bill to install bellows wire along the border and arrest people entering the country illegally. The office defends the state's law enforcement efforts along the border.
“Texas has installed miles of additional razor wire and anti-climb fencing along its southern border to deter and repel record levels of illegal immigration caused by President Biden's reckless open border policies. ,” Abbott spokesman Andrew Mahalelis told DCNF. in a statement Thursday.
