Lake Havasu police are investigating a fatal shooting by a Kingman police officer this week, and the victim remains in the hospital receiving treatment.
City officials said the incident occurred on Dec. 29 when law enforcement officials were called to a scene in Kingman in reference to a domestic disturbance. Police said Andrew P. Romero, 39, of Kingman, came out of his residence holding a shotgun as officers arrived on the scene.
The Kingman Police Department said in an initial report that Romero refused to drop the weapon despite officers' commands and may have raised it at the officers' direction. During the armed confrontation, a Kingman police officer shot and injured Romero.
Romero was treated by paramedics at the scene and eventually taken to Sunrise Medical Center in Las Vegas for treatment.
No officers were injured in the encounter, investigators said. As of Wednesday, the investigation into the incident was continuing and police had not yet released the names of the officers involved in the shooting.

Court records showed no warrant for Romero's arrest as of Wednesday, and he has not yet been charged in light of last month's shooting.
