When Christina Applegate took the stage at the Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Monday, the audience stood up.

The celebrity-studded audience quickly rose to its feet to express support for Applegate, who is currently battling a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. She walked confidently across the stage on her cane and was clearly moved by her applause and standing ovation. “Standing up is totally humiliating me with my disability!” she joked.

Applegate became emotional and looked out over the audience, taking in the outpouring of love. Tears filled her eyes as she recognized her intensity in that moment. “Oh my god,” she gasped.

She quickly calmed the mood and turned up the heat with her quick wit and charm. Applegate cracked a self-deprecating joke that had the audience laughing within seconds.

Poking fun at her weight gain since her diagnosis, she said her “body doesn't belong to Ozempic” and criticized Hollywood's obsession with rapid weight loss.

“You don't have to clap every time I do something,” the star joked as the audience loudly congratulated her.

“Some of you may know my last work as Kelly Bundy in Married with Children, or Samantha in Samantha Who, or perhaps Jen Harding in Dead to Me. “There may be some people who are,” she said.

“But very few people know me from my debut as baby Bert Grisell on Days of Our Lives. …It's an honor to play such an interesting, flawed, and complex character. ,” Applegate said. (Related: Kevin Hart flatly refuses to host awards show)

The “Dead to Me” star won the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

She announced her multiple sclerosis diagnosis in 2021.
