The Alabama Crimson Tide has lost a ton of players to the transfer portal since Nick Saban's departure. In today's college football landscape, name, image, and likeness (NIL) is an important factor in transfer destinations, and players often make their final choices based on where they can make the most money.
on 3 Continue to perform an evaluation of the player's total NIL value.
Caleb Downs, safety — $903,000
Downs is the crown jewel of the transfer portal, ranking both as the best player available and the best overall player this cycle. Currently, the teams vying for his credit are Ohio State and Georgia.
Julian Sain, quarterback — $814,000
The nation's top quarterback and one of the best players overall in the 2024 class, Sane is the second-best player in the portal and No. 4 overall. For him, it seems early on that it's going to be a battle between the University of Southern California and Ohio State.
Isaiah Bond, wide receiver (Texas) — $661,000
Bonds gained nearly 700 yards and scored four touchdowns in 2023, becoming Alabama's second-leading receiver. He is his No. 6 player overall in the portal and his No. 2 receiver. He heads to Texas to play in Steve Sarkisian's offensive line.
Kaydin Proctor, left tackle — $653,000
Proctor is also a five-star recruit who has been a starter since his freshman year. He committed to Iowa State and is expected to return to his home state, where he originally committed before flipping to Alabama.

Dez Ricks, Cornerback (Texas A&M) — $396,000
Ricks was a freshman at Alabama in 2023 but did not see any action other than on special teams. However, this is largely due to the depth at the position, as he was one of the top recruits in the 2023 class and was expected to make an immediate contribution in College Station.
Eli Holstein, quarterback (Pittsburgh) — $374,000
Holstein is one of two quarterbacks taken by Alabama in the 2023 class, with Dylan Lonergan choosing to remain in Tuscaloosa for now. Holstein, a Louisiana native, will head north to Pittsburgh for his second year.
Amari Niblack, tight end (Texas) — $307,000
Niblack was one of the breakout players in Alabama's 2023 offense, finishing with 20 receptions, over 300 yards, and four touchdowns. He is another offensive weapon headed to Texas to play for Steve Sarkisian.
Trey Amos, cornerback — $202,000
Amos, who had transferred from Louisiana to Alabama the year before, filled in for the injured Kool-Aid McKinstry for most of the run up to the SEC Championship and made some big plays. He was expected to be a starter at Alabama in 2024.
Jake Pope, safety (Georgia) — $171,000
Pope, who redshirted his first year, only saw action on special teams at Alabama this year as he was at a different deep position. The Popes will try to reset their careers in Athens, another location that is very safe for them.
Kendrick Blackshear, linebacker — $169,000
Blackshear was a college prospect coming out of Duncanville, but he never fully took off at Alabama. This season, he recorded 16 tackles, mostly in rotational action, but also saw a fair amount of special teams action. He returns to his home state of Texas, becoming the third Alabama candidate (so far) to do so.
