Naperville City Council members have proposed a registration sheet for families in the city who are willing to take in immigrants.
Naperville City Councilman Josh McBroom proposed Tuesday that the city create a registration sheet for residents who are ready to voluntarily open their homes to illegal immigrants. according to To the Chicago Tribune. A Naperville city spokesperson told the magazine that six buses transporting migrants have arrived at the Naperville Metra station since Dec. 21.
“Let's see who can help,” McBroom said, according to the newspaper.
McBroom said Naperville is a “very affluent” city with “a lot of big houses.”
“What I would like to do is instruct staff to create a registration sheet for individuals who wish to house immigrant families,” he added. “And if anyone does that, God bless you.”

The city councilman said Naperville is a “caring community” made up of “many caring people,” according to the Chicago Tribune. He said it was important for residents to “raise awareness” about the surge in illegal immigrants entering the city. The nearby sanctuary city of Chicago has been hit by an onslaught of illegal immigrants bussed into Illinois from the southern border by Texas Governor Greg Abbott, a Republican.
