Iron Bowl of Basketball: Can Auburn continue streak on the road?

Alabama and Auburn will meet for the first time this season on the basketball courts in Tuscaloosa on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. CT.

Heading into this matchup, Alabama leads the series 101-67, and historically Auburn hasn't won much, winning just nine games against Tuscaloosa. Alabama dominated Auburn last season, but the season before was a reversal.

All of this being said, Auburn comes into this as the much better team, at least on paper. The Tigers cracked the top 10 in this week's AP poll after winning 11 straight games, each by double digits.

For Alabama, the Tide is coming off an embarrassing loss in Knoxville where they were outplayed, turned the ball over nonstop and shot badly.

Auburn has depth at the position, as Alabama has struggled all season to match the physicality of a team with elite big plays following the departure of Charles Bediako.

Joni Bloom, Jaylin Williams, and Dylan Cardwell give Bruce Pearl a ton of options, all things that can and will hurt Alabama.

For Alabama to end Auburn's winning streak and continue the struggles the Tigers had at Coleman Coliseum, they will have to shoot better than the 19% they made on threes against Tennessee.

Looking at how Alabama's season has gone, the Tide has often relied heavily on Mark Sears on offense. Sears will need to play his best game of the season to give Alabama a chance.

Auburn is the only undefeated team in the conference, and Wednesday night will be one of their toughest remaining tests.

Ultimately, it should be a huge home court advantage for Alabama and the most terrifying environment Auburn has played in all season.

Time will tell if the Tide can do enough to end Auburn's winning streak and get back on track in the SEC.
