Arizona man dead after he was told to leave, returned with gun

PHOENIX — An Arizona man was shot and killed during a struggle over a gun after firing a gun at a party he was ordered to leave last week, authorities said.

According to the Coconino County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a call of shots fired in the Donny Park area northeast of Flagstaff around 11:30 p.m. Thursday and found two people with gunshot wounds. stated in the press release Tuesday.

David Navella was pronounced dead at the scene. The other injured person, whose name was not released, was taken to Flagstaff Hospital, where he was treated and released.

What happened in the shooting at Donny Park?

Detectives learned that Navella was attending a small gathering at a neighbor's residence when an argument broke out and he was asked to leave.

After returning home and retrieving the handgun, he returned to the party and shot and killed the other victim, CCSO said.

Nabella then ran after the two who ran into a bedroom. CCSO said the man was shot and killed during a dispute with a resident over possession of a gun.

No other details were disclosed. Investigation is ongoing.
