Anne Hathaway walked out of her Vanity Fair cover photo shoot on Tuesday as members of her union, SAG-AFTRA, went on a one-day strike.
SAG-AFTRA stood in solidarity with Condé Nast union members by striking on the same day Hathaway signed with Vanity Fair. Sources say that the famous actress arrived in New York with her hair and makeup done and she suddenly abandoned her set. Page 6.

The chain of events began when SAG-AFTRA members joined Condé Nast picketers stationed outside One World Trade Center headquarters during the work stoppage. SAG-AFTRA then contacted Hathaway's team, who cascaded messages, Page Six reported. This prompted the actress to withdraw from her previous arrangement and choose another date.
Vanity Fair did not violate any guidelines, and Hathaway's camp did its due diligence when booking the cover shoot.
Officials said Hathaway's departure wasn't dramatic, but it was sudden.
An inside source involved in the photo shoot commented on the situation.
When the project was canceled, “people were like, 'What the heck is going on?'” they noted.

The Condé Nast strike was attended by about 400 union workers, including Vogue, GQ, and Vanity Fair employees. According to Page Six, the workers began the strike after “Condé Nast announced it would lay off 5% of its workforce, in what it claims is an illegal bargaining tactic.”
A source directly involved in Hathaway's photoshoot said, “Everything was perfect and great care was taken to avoid violating union rules.”(Related: Hollywood actors' strike ends after 118 days)
According to Page Six, Hathaway was praised by striking workers for her quick action in leaving the set, and sources say the film will be rescheduled at a later date.
