Firefighters rescued a Bible from a burning house in Clarksville, Tennessee, on Saturday morning.

“It's nice to know there are people like this out there taking care of us,” said homeowner Mike Smith, referring to the firefighters who recovered his wife's Bible from the fire. I will be indebted to you for a long time.” , according to WSMV4.

According to the newspaper, Smith built the house himself, taking more than 10 years to complete. He warned homeowners of the importance of maintaining fireplaces after the incident.

“Make sure you buy enough dry wood to put in your fireplace and keep it clean,” says Smith. “Otherwise, the same thing might happen to other people.”
