Nate Myers, executive director of the Sedona Historical Society and Sedona Heritage Museum, will be the organization's speaker at the organization's next Sedona Stories event on Thursday, Jan. 25, at 10 a.m. The event will be held in the museum's historic Apple Shed. The title of the presentation is “Reinterpreting Sedona's History.”
Meyers, who has spent his entire career working in local history museums, will share his perspective on Sedona's unique history, reinterpreting well-known stories and providing new insights into the people and events that have shaped the community. share.
“A community's history is what makes it unique, and Sedona has some really fascinating stories to dig into,” Myers said. “I'm excited to share my interpretation of our community's history. I hope those who attend this talk will leave with a whole new appreciation for what makes Sedona special. I hope so.”
Myers' presentation explores the history of Red Rock Country from its early inhabitants to today. Familiar stories are presented from a different perspective, forcing audiences to consider what they think they know about the history of the Sedona community.
If prospective participants think they're going to sit through boring lectures, Meyers says think again. “Of course, we'll talk about very serious things in our presentations. But we'll also look at some fun topics, like filmmaking and the importance of McDonald's teal arches. We challenge assumptions about history. But there will be some laughs along the way.”
This presentation is part of the Sedona Heritage Museum's Sedona Stories lecture series. The Sedona Story is shown on the second Thursday of each month at 10 a.m. in the museum's apple shed. The presentation is free to attend.
