Sedona hires Anette Spickard as new city manager

sedona news – The City of Sedona welcomes Annette Spickard as its new City Manager, scheduled to begin April 8, 2024.

Spickard is a native of McCall, Idaho, a tourist and outdoor recreation destination surrounded by national forests about 160 miles north of Boise, Idaho. During her six years as McCall City Manager, she has been involved in many issues facing Sedona, including worker housing issues, balancing quality of life for residents in a tourism economy, and the need for multi-agency collaboration to advance regional issues. I've worked on many similar problems. Ms. Spickard's background includes more than 25 years of dedicated public service as a former County Assessor for Lane County, Oregon. She is the community development and public works director for Springfield, Oregon, a city of 60,000 people. And she most recently served as McCall City Manager. Spickard holds a master's degree in public administration from the University of Washington and a bachelor's degree in business administration from Loyola University.

“Annette is a proven leader with an extensive background in public service and experience in organizations with many similarities to Sedona. I look forward to working with her,” said Mayor Scott Jabrow. said.

The hiring and selection process took more than six months and culminated in January with interviews with community members, staff and City Council, and included an open house for the public to meet and greet her. 152 potential candidates were considered through an extensive screening process and Mr. Spickard was selected to offer the job.

“Sedona is a special place. I'm excited to join Sedona's leadership team and work with our community to address opportunities and challenges,” said Spickard.
