Michael Penix Jr. has high praise for his former head coach.
Although neither Penix nor Karen DeBoer are in Seattle yet, the two have a special connection that has led to the Washington Huskies' incredibly explosive offense.
DeBoer is currently in Tuscaloosa and Penix is in Mobile preparing to attend the Senior Bowl and showcase his talent to NFL scouts around the league.
in 105.5 Interview with WNSP Speaking to Mobile, Penix offered a highly optimistic outlook on how his former head coach will fare as he heads to the SEC to replace Nick Saban.
“Oh, he's a great coach. He's going to push his players very hard and make sure every player is 100 percent ready on game day, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Yeah, they're going to light it up. The offense he runs is great, smartly pushing the ball down the field. The timing is perfect,” Penix said.

Asked to predict whether DeBoer will win a title in his first three years at Alabama, Penix said he believes that's exactly what will happen.
In 2023, under Coach DeBoer's guidance, Penix had a phenomenal season, throwing for nearly 5,000 yards, 36 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions while finishing a close second in Heisman Trophy voting.
It was the second consecutive year that Penix threw for more than 4,500 yards and 30 touchdowns under DeBoer and current Alabama offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb.
While Alabama is still filling out its roster, DeBoer promised “explosiveness” for the Tide offense. If his tenure with Michael Penix Jr. is any indication, that's exactly what Crimson Tide fans should expect.
