Guardian Angels announced the citizen's arrest on a live broadcast on Fox News on Tuesday, with leader Curtis Sliwa accusing Democratic New York Mayor Eric Adams of “destroying” the city.
Sliwa and his team appeared on “Hannity” to discuss the ongoing immigration crisis impacting local residents. During Sliwa's interview with Fox host Sean Hannity, members of the Guardian Angels were seen walking away from the camera toward a person who appeared to be a man wearing a hooded jacket. Cameras showed the team holding the man to the ground as Guardian Angels surrounded him.
After the citizen's arrest, Ms. Hannity asked what happened during the incident, and Ms. Sliwa claimed that the person arrested was suspected of shoplifting. Reeder said the alleged gunman “resisted,” but said officers eventually “pulled him off the asphalt” and took him to jail. “[This] The boy was shoplifting first. The guardian angels found him and stopped him -he resisted. Just tell us that we gave him a little pain compliance. His mother in Venezuela felt that vibration. He is smoking concrete. The police dragged him from the asphalt. He is on his way to prison, but they will release him, “Sriwa said.
Sliwa continued to emphasize that New Yorkers need to “take back 42nd Street,” but Hannity also interjected, saying how grateful New York City Police Department (NYPD) officers are for the support of Guardian Angels. He said he was witnessing whether he was. Sliwa agreed with Hannity, but said officials have been told to “stand back.” Mr. Sriwa said that the team would continue to “fight” for the “right thing.” (Related: Video shows illegal immigrant gang members pulling woman from moped: Report)
“We have to go back down 42nd Street, Sean. These illegal aliens think they own this street. They think they rule the night. This is our country. If they don't follow the rules, we're going to drive them back from where they came from,” Sliwa said.
“But unfortunately, they [NYPD] I was told not to reach out. Well, how about? We do not let go. You are shoplifting, committing a crime, assaulting people, and belonging to our country. You will always pay the price. We must fight for what we know. I've seen this a little. They got a small taste of what the Guardian Angels are going to do to free Times Square from them. ”
Before her citizen's arrest, Ms. Sliwa criticized Mr. Adams over the rise in illegal immigration and accused him of “single-handedly” destroying New York City. The former New York City Republican mayoral candidate criticized Adams' policies regarding housing illegal immigrants, claiming they get “more money” than local veterans, the homeless, and the mentally ill.
“In fact, that's why I hate him the most. Join Eric Adams' Curtis Sliwa hate club who single-handedly destroyed this city by giving everything to illegal aliens. “Imagine arriving in your city, checking into a hotel, receiving concierge service, and then receiving a $1,000 debit card that you can use for a month,” Sliwa said.
“And you get more money than the veterans, the homeless, the mentally ill in New York City get. That's just outrageous. This mayor doesn't seem to understand that. He's illegal. He cares for the sojourners and abandons his own people, especially the African-Americans, the poor, the poor, who elected him over me, Curtis Sliwa, to be mayor of New York.”
New York City has experienced many problems due to the influx of illegal immigrants. The Adams administration recently announced a $53 million taxpayer-funded program to provide prepaid credit cards to immigrants staying at the Roosevelt Hotel.
