YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – A Yuma woman accused of hitting a pedestrian with her car and then leaving the scene of the accident last month was formally charged with hit-and-run on Tuesday.
Audrey Ryan was also formally charged with tampering with physical evidence.
The judge noted that the victim was beaten about two weeks ago at B Street and Eighth Avenue, suffering a fractured pelvis, ankle, shoulder and arm.
She is recovering at a Phoenix-area hospital, police said.
The Yuma Police Department is reminding the community of what to do to avoid situations like this.
“If you are the primary driver and someone happens to run out onto the road in front of you, please stay where you are. That is the most important thing. Stay at the scene and allow detectives and officers to investigate. “This is to make sure that the police are safe,” Yuma Police Department spokeswoman Christina Fernandez said.
Ryan's bail remains at $50,000.
