Wellton man formally charged for drug possession

YUMA COUNTY, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – A Welton man has been formally charged with four felonies related to drug possession.

Eric Clapp, 39, was charged Wednesday morning with possession of dangerous drugs for sale, along with three other felonies.

The Yuma County Drug Task Force said they found hundreds of pills containing fentanyl and methamphetamine in the home.

The Drug Task Force executed a search warrant for a home near Sunset Avenue and William Street in Welton early Monday morning.

“Among the drugs discovered were also approximately over 900 tablets of fentanyl. These particular fentanyl tablets are known as multicolored Skittles or rainbow tablets and are unfortunately very popular at the moment. , we also seized over 10 grams of methamphetamine,” explained Yuma County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) Public Affairs Specialist Tania Pavlak.

YCSO said these pills may contain lethal amounts of pre-fentanyl.

Clapp is being held on $50,000 bail.
