Sedona Fire helicopter rescues a rock climber stranded on an isolated steeple. The striking photos shared show the rescue challenge.
Sedona, Arizona — Dramatic photos show the moment a rock climber was rescued from a spire near Schnebly Hill Sedona Fire crew. The climber had to be airlifted after being stranded on a cliff.
The agency worked with the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office and the Arizona Department of Public Safety to remove the patient from the steep summit of the spire.
The photos show how difficult it was to climb up there, as the spire lacked a gentle slope to where climbers could see it.

Shared by Sedona Fire photo on facebooksaid it required a lot of time and resources to resolve a “complex incident.”
There was no word on the rock climber’s condition, but he was safely lowered from the spire.
largely Schnebly Hill Trail The climb is reasonably steady up the hill, according to the U.S. Forest Service, but the iconic rock pinnacle is still open to climbers willing to brave the escarpment.
Hikers and rock climbers may not face extreme heat at this time of year, but it’s always important to know your limits.
