Southern college football fans who miss the sport are counting down the days starting Tuesday. As of today, both Alabama and Auburn have kickoffs, and Week 1 of the college football calendar is officially 200 days away.
Both Yellowhammer State teams have a lot to look forward to heading into the 2024 season.
For the first time in 17 years, it will be a completely new era for Alabama, as the Saban era ends and the Cullen DeBoer era begins.
As the second year of Hugh Freeze's tenure begins for Auburn, Tiger fans can expect to see a much better product on the field than in year one, with improvements on both sides of the ball through recruiting and portals. I look forward to it.

Both teams open their seasons on Saturday, August 31st. The University of Alabama will play Western Kentucky, and the University of Auburn will play Alabama A&M.
Tide and Tiger fans who can't wait for the full 200 days have something to look forward to in April. Both teams will hold their A-Day spring games at their respective stadiums.
Auburn University's spring game will be held on Saturday, April 6th, and the University of Alabama will be held the following weekend on Saturday, April 13th.
The distance between us and soccer fans is getting closer. Let the countdown begin—he has 200 days left.
