Preston Lord’s death officially ruled ‘homicide’ as ‘Gilbert Goons’ investigation continues

PHOENIX — Preston Lord's death has been officially ruled a homicide.

The Maricopa County ME Office now believes Lord's manner of death was a “homicide,” according to a recently updated medical examiner's report on the teen's death.

Queen Creek police have been investigating the 16-year-old boy's death as a homicide for several months, but a formal coroner's report has long been “pending.”

Officials confirmed that a report has been completed and sent to law enforcement. The report will now be subject to legal review before it can be published.

Multiple people are currently being referred to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office on recommended charges in Lord's death.

So far, the MCAO continues to consider these recommendations and no one has been charged in connection with Lord's death.

Lord's death has brought renewed attention to a series of attacks on teenagers in the East Valley, with multiple law enforcement agencies opening or resuming violent incidents.

Multiple people have been arrested in connection with these flare-ups, including a suspect in multiple attacks in the East Valley.
