Phipps is scheduled to be arraigned on March 12, the newspaper said.

This is not the first time Pelosi has confronted Code Pink protesters. The former speaker of the House of Representatives told the protesters who crowded around his Okst car. The newspaper reported that on January 29, 2023, a video calling for people to “go back to China, where their headquarters are located” went viral.

Code Pink previously said in an October 2023 blog post that its goal was to “temporarily hold Pelosi hostage” during demonstrations calling for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. A spokesperson for the group called the timing an “unfortunate coincidence” after learning that the date coincided with the anniversary of David DePaap's attack on Pelosi's husband, Paul Pelosi.
