Montevallo freezes tuition, does away with ACT/SAT requirement

Good things happen…7.

At least that's what students at the University of Montevallo do.

The university's Board of Trustees announced Wednesday that it has voted to freeze tuition for the seventh year in a row. The school said the decision was made to maintain an affordable option for a four-year degree.

“Our university family is proud to offer a four-year degree at the most affordable price possible,” said UM President Dr. John Stewart III. “We continue to prioritize cost savings for high school graduates, community college transfers, adult learners and their families.

“In addition to freezing tuition, we have continued to increase funding for institutional scholarships each year to help students continue to pursue meaningful lives and careers.”

The University of Montevallo also announced it will waive ACT/SAT score requirements for admission through this fall and offer scholarships to students based on high school GPA. To be eligible for the scholarship, students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

The university is also participating in Free College Application Week, which runs through Friday. During this period, high school seniors, transfer students, and graduate students can apply to his UM without paying an application fee.
