Come have a rootin’ tootin’ time for Pioneer Day and Fiesta event

The Town of Welton invites everyone in Yuma County to join the parade

WELTON, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – The Town of Welton's Park and Recreation will hold its 46th Annual Pioneer Day and Fiesta Event on Saturday, February 24th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Mary Miranda, event coordinator for the Town of Welton, said all Yuma County residents are invited to participate in the 2024 Pioneer Day Parade.

The “Wild Wild West” themed parade and fiesta is designed to honor what Welton has become and share it with Yuma County residents.

“Wellton was actually the first well town in the area to supply water to the railroad, so that's why it got its name. It was a well town,” Miranda explains. “It dates back to the 1870s. In fact, we're also home to part of historic Route 80. That old 80 runs straight through Welton.”

Miranda tells them to arrive in their best western attire, as there will be a best-dressed contest.

“The winner will receive a $50 gift card to a local restaurant and free play on the golf course,” Miranda said.

The parade begins at 10 a.m. at Westside Open Space and festivities continue at Butterfield Park, 10234 Dome St. in Welton.

“We have vendors, we have karate demonstrations, we have a DJ, we have jump houses. It's like a festival. It's a party,” Miranda said. “From food to drink, it’s a time for us to come together and celebrate Welton.”

If you would like to participate in the parade or fiesta, please contact Mary Miranda at 928-785-3348 or mmiranda@welltonaz.gov by Friday afternoon.
