Phone Scams Pose as Law Enforcement in Coconino Country – Great Circle Media of Arizona

The Coconino County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about an ongoing scam. The office said it has received several calls from citizens reporting phone scams impersonating law enforcement. Officials said the scam involved false accusations that victims had failed to serve on a jury, had no federal or local warrants, were in civil trouble, or had not paid fines. It is said that there is Law enforcement does not solicit funds or collect fines over the phone. Jury summonses will be sent by mail. To prevent yourself or your loved ones from falling victim to a phone scam, always be suspicious of unsolicited phone calls, texts, and emails. Be wary of spoofed phone numbers or email addresses, and always call the agency directly to verify authenticity. Finally, take your time and trust your intuition.
