Judge Sarah Stewart, who currently serves on the Alabama Supreme Court, is a leading candidate to become the state's next chief justice. With his nearly 20 years of experience in the judicial system, Mr. Stewart is particularly notable for his 13 years as a circuit judge and as president of the Circuit Judges Association. Stewart, a graduate of Vanderbilt Law School, has important relationships with state legislators that he believes will be an asset to the chief justice's role.

Judge Stewart has a 22-point lead in the race to be Alabama's next chief justice, according to a recent poll by Strategy Management, a Montgomery-based firm. The survey was conducted the week of February 19th and surveyed 519 likely Republican primary voters across Alabama. According to the poll, Mr. Stewart's approval rating is 4-1, significantly more than his largely unknown opponent, as more than 84% of voters have no opinion or do not recognize Mr. Stewart. It was expensive.

In the first round of voting, Stewart led 25-9, with 66% undecided. That lead widened to 61-39 in the mandatory voting test, showing Mr. Stewart was the preferred candidate for nearly 55 percent of undecided voters. Dalton Dismukes, president of Strategy Management, said Stewart's dominance in the race is a testament to her reputation as an experienced and fair constitutional jurist, and more voters are recognizing her accomplishments. She predicted that her support would continue to grow as people realized the message.

“This investigation shows that Judge Stewart continues to dominate this race, just as he has dominated the entire campaign. Mr. Dismukes is an experienced and fair constitutional law scholar. He said it's clear that her background as an attorney makes her the overwhelming choice of voters. “As her contributions to the people of Alabama and her message continue to resonate, her numbers continue to grow. I expect it to continue to increase.”

Stewart's campaign also has significant support, including the support of 23 district attorneys across Alabama and a significant fundraising advantage over his opponent, former state Sen. Brian Taylor. Her campaign emphasized her proven conservative judicial leadership and commitment to justice, and her extensive experience and support of law enforcement will help drive voter support in the March 5 primary. He emphasizes that this is an extremely important reason.
