This is the definition of owner.
As we blogged recently, the Los Angeles Clippers went all-in on their rebranding, unveiling a new logo, fresh jerseys, and multiple court designs for their new arena.
And while they all sound nice and nice, they're owned entirely by Triple-A minor league baseball teams to…well…copy. (Related article: LeBron James goes on a defensive rant about his son's NBA status, then mysteriously deletes it for some reason)
“Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery,” the Columbus Clippers posted on X. The Clippers are the Triple-A affiliate of Major League Baseball's Cleveland Guardians.
Initially, Los Angeles and Columbus shared the brand name “Clippers,” but now both teams have similar logos with a large “C” surrounding a ship in port.
So, compare the logos yourself. Can you blame Columbus for criticizing Los Angeles?

Not only is this a grade-A vandalism by the Columbus Clippers, but you have to give them credit for capitalizing on this story and riding this wave to promote their own brand.
Marketability is everything. This is why I'm a mediocre sports blogger with a keyboard and a sexy blonde reporting the news on TV. No one wants to see a fat guy go on about LeBron James.
Or maybe so.
