Law enforcement agencies seek public help in finding AG office bomber


Nearly a week after a bomb exploded outside the Alabama Attorney General's Office in Montgomery, law enforcement officials are asking for help identifying the bomber.

The Alabama Department of Law Enforcement, FBI Mobile Office, and Alabama Attorney General's Office released photos and video of the suspect in the pre-dawn explosion.

“In the early morning hours of Saturday, February 24, an explosive device was detonated outside the Alabama Attorney General's Office building in Montgomery,” Attorney General Steve Marshall said in a statement. “Thankfully, no staff or employees were injured in the explosion. The Alabama Department of Law Enforcement is leading the investigation and we encourage anyone with information to contact us immediately.”

The bomb exploded just before 3:45 a.m. Saturday, ALEA said. outside the attorney general's office in downtown Montgomery near the intersection of Washington Avenue and South Bainbridge Street.

Police officers assigned to ALEA's Protective Services Division and special agents assigned to ALEA's Hazardous Materials Unit, as well as officers from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Montgomery Police Department, also responded to assist.

No injuries or damage to nearby buildings were reported. ALEA said no further information was available as the investigation is ongoing.
