A famous restaurant booth depicted in “The Sopranos” sold for $82,600 on eBay on Monday.
A spectacular set piece from this iconic show was put up for auction by the owners of Holsten's Ice Cream in Bloomfield, New Jersey. They previously set up a booth inside the ice cream shop, giving guests the chance to sit in the exact spot where Tony Soprano, played by the late James Gandolfini, sat to eat his final meal. According to the eBay listing, the booth received a total of 238 bids.
The final bid for this television memorabilia took place on Monday at 7:12 p.m.
Lucky bidders can take home more than just the booth itself.
“The booth features seating, a table, and a partition wall with a plaque that says 'For The Sopranos Family Only,'” the listing said.
For the owner of Holsten's Ice Cream, it was hard to let go of the nostalgic set items. It had been installed at their location for quite some time, but eventually they had to make the difficult decision to let it go.
“The time has come,” the owners wrote in an emotional Instagram post on Feb. 29, which they shared with their 8,815 followers. “Every good thing needs an upgrade sometimes. Famous [Sopranos] The booth is getting a much-needed makeover. ”
“Please understand that we do not want to do something like this,” they added.
“However, the integrity of the booth is now compromised. It has been repaired many times and this furniture is over 60 years old.”
Although we were reluctant, they explained to us the need to replace the booth.
“Obviously we don't want to do this.”[.] [H]”However, we have reached the point where the overall structure is no longer safe and we must prioritize the safety of our patrons,” they wrote.
