YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – Residents of Van Mobile Home Park are on edge as this is the fourth fire reported in the area since last October.
One of the fires killed a 33-year-old woman.
Sean has lived in a van mobile home park for the past three years, but now plans to move.
“I’m looking forward to getting away from here and not having to deal with all the things that come with a place,” Sean said.
Sean, his wife, and their three children have been forced to leave their home due to frequent fires and management issues. Some fires even start in your own backyard.
“You know… it's been going on for too long. It's just… it's time to go,” he stated.
One of the incidents also claimed the life of 33-year-old Maria Guadalupe Aparicio.
The same mobile home unit where she died last December caught fire again Tuesday. This time, the house was completely destroyed along with the neighbor's house.
The Van Mobile Park is also under county surveillance due to multiple outstanding ordinance violations.
We spoke with an attorney representing the mobile home park earlier this year, and he insisted the park would be cleaned.
But after this fire, it wasn't fast enough for Sean to say it was time to leave.
“Yeah, it's a nicer neighborhood. Somewhere…where I can let my kids run around and not have to worry about it,” he said.
Rural Metro said the cause of the fire was still under investigation.
