Winslow, Arizona — A man has died in a building fire in Winslow.
At 5:10 a.m. on December 9, the deputy on duty with the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office reported seeing smoke coming from a building on East Third Street in Winslow.
The Winslow Fire Department is dispatched to find the building engulfed in flames.
The Winslow Police Department also responded to assist with traffic control and safety at the scene.
During firefighting, firefighters confirmed that a male resident was trapped inside the burning building.
According to Winslow Police Department Ernest Cano, “Despite the efforts of firefighters and police at the scene, he was unable to be rescued and died.
The names of the deceased will be kept public until confirmation of their identity and notification of family members.
The cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation, according to the Winslow Police Department.
“The tragic loss of life is a shock to first responders, the families of the deceased, and our communities,” the ministry said.
