YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – A 16-year-old boy was found dead Friday morning in a car crash that left multiple passengers injured, according to the Yuma Police Department (YPD).
Yuma Police officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident around 3:26 a.m. June 21 near S. 14th Street.
According to YPD, the juvenile was driving a Honda Civic at a high rate of speed when he lost control and crashed into a brick wall, two parked cars and a home.
A total of five people were found in the vehicle, including:
- A boy, age 16. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
- The front seat passenger, an 18-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.
- A 13-year-old boy and passenger were seriously injured
- A 13-year-old girl and a passenger were seriously injured.
- 12-year-old girl, passenger injured
The injured passengers were taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center, while a 13-year-old boy and girl were later flown to a hospital in Phoenix.
According to YPD, alcohol and speed appear to be factors in the crash.
