Serial killer who recently killed an Alabama man arrested in Arkansas

Suspected serial killer Stacey Lee Drake was arrested in Morrilton, Arkansas, after a 22-mile car chase. Authorities believe Drake killed Rusty Anderson, a 62-year-old Tuscaloosa man, last month. Investigators say Anderson was found shot to death on May 14 at a local Alcoholics Anonymous clubhouse near Jack Warner Parkway.

Drake, a 50-year-old drifter, was found in a wooded area of Morrilton, a town of 7,000 in Conway County, Arkansas, after an extensive search by authorities.

Drake is also wanted in connection with three murders in Oklahoma that were linked to two separate carjackings.

Alabama investigators have now arrived in Arkansas, where Drake is currently being held in the Conway County Detention Center.

Drake was convicted of armed robbery and theft in Arizona in 1994 and sentenced to 10 years in prison. Despite being a problematic inmate, he was released in early 2002.

In 2003, Drake was convicted again, this time for robbery and aggravated assault by pepper-spraying a police officer in Arizona, and was later convicted of assault with a deadly weapon while in prison.

Drake is charged with a liquor store robbery in Guymon, Oklahoma, a gas station robbery in Ozark, Alabama, a liquor store robbery in Dothan, Alabama in 2010, and a string of crimes in Pickens County.

In 2010, Drake pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm and committing carjacking in a violent carjacking in Pickens County and to brandishing a gun during a carjacking that ended in a 90 mph police chase in Gordo.

Drake was released to Jimmy Hale Mission in Birmingham in 2022.

Drake then went on a crime spree that included armed robbery, carjacking and murder.

He had only been in Tuscaloosa for two weeks when he allegedly killed Anderson and stole her car. Anderson's car was seen leaving the county, and the Sheriff's Department requested the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force be involved in the case. Anderson's car has not yet been found.

Two people were found dead at a business in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma, on Tuesday, and Drake is believed to be the suspect in another murder in Gunns, Oklahoma.

Drake was next seen buying camping equipment in Conway County. The Arkansas National Guard and the Arkansas Department of Community Corrections assisted Arkansas State Police in the search.

Drake is facing federal charges for allegedly violating parole.

Investigators in various jurisdictions are looking into whether Drake may be connected to unsolved crimes in their areas.
