House Oversight Chairman James Comer on Monday pressed American Muslims Supporting Palestine (AMP) to cooperate with Congress' oversight of pro-Hamas propaganda and funding for camps on college campuses across the country.

The letter, first obtained by The Daily Caller, is a sequel to one Comer sent May 29, in which he said the committee would monitor the funding sources of groups that support “illegal encampments” on college campuses and the “anti-Semitic rhetoric” that has been erupting in the country for months. Israeli victims of the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas terror attack sued the group in May. Assert They are “deliberately providing ongoing, systematic, and substantial support.”

“The survivors of Hamas' Oct. 7 terrorist attack, the families of those killed by Hamas, civilians still subject to Hamas' ongoing terrorist attacks, and those displaced by Hamas' ongoing terrorism continue to be harmed by AMP and NSJP's knowingly providing ongoing, systematic, and substantial support to Hamas and its affiliates' acts of international terrorism,” the lawsuit states.

The Wall Street Journal report In May, protesters at universities across the country consulted with groups such as National Students for Justice in Palestine (NSJP) and Samidoun: Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network, in some cases involving months of training, planning and encouragement, Comer said. NSJP is “founded and managed” by American Muslims for Palestine (AMP), Comer's letter said.

“I wrote to you on May 29, 2024, requesting documents, correspondence and other records related to National Students for Justice in Palestine (National SJP) that are in the possession of you or the organization of which you serve as Executive Director, American Muslims for Palestine (AMP). Instead of making an effort to comply with my request or providing the Committee with responsive documentation, your attorneys have indicated that AMP will not accept your May 29, 2024 letter addressed to 'Dr. Osama Abu-Irshaid, Executive Director, National Students for Justice in Palestine, American Muslims for Palestine,'” Comer wrote in the letter.

“Perhaps you believe this is a necessary step, as such an admission could adversely affect AMP's legal strategy for the lawsuit filed in the Eastern District of Virginia. To avoid further delay and mitigate confusion for your company, I am writing to you directly as AMP's Executive Director to request that you and AMP promptly and voluntarily comply with the document requests reiterated below,” he continued. In his letter, Comer requested:

• All documents and correspondence relating to National SJP funding
• All documentation and communications relating to National SJP’s policies, procedures or standard operating practices. Conducting due diligence or otherwise verifying that funds received by National SJP comply with all relevant laws relating to terrorist financing.
• All documents and communications related to the October 7, 2023 Hamas terrorist attack, including, but not limited to, documents and communications related to National SJP’s public response to the October 7, 2023 Hamas terrorist attack.
• All documents and communications related to the promotion of illegal activities by National SJP or the provision of material support to terrorist organizations, including, but not limited to, Hamas.
• All documents and communications created or transmitted between October 6, 2023 and October 8, 2023, regardless of topic.

“The Committee will continue to aggressively pursue information relevant to its oversight of this matter. Any knowingly false statement or representation made to the Committee in connection with this investigation or any other investigation conducted under the authority of this Committee may constitute a criminal offense and will not be tolerated,” Comer added.

Comer said that if AMP does not provide the requested documents, “we will consider other means, including the use of enforcement procedures, to encourage compliance and obtain this material.”
