Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) is so unhappy with the Biden administration that he thinks the country would be better off if the federal government shut down for the next few months.
We need to shut down Washington DC for the next 6 months and save America. #maghttps://t.co/2IHiUKCJo9

“We need to close down our buildings for the next seven or eight months and go home before we really ruin this country,” Tuberville said on Newsmax on Wednesday.
The senator was responding to President Joe Biden's call for higher capital gains and corporate income taxes.
“You can't just make this up,” he said. “You don't do that in an election year, so there's something fishy about that. There's an election coming up and they're saying we're going to double the capital gains tax, so there's something fishy about that. What they're doing just doesn't make sense.”
Biden proposes raising the corporate tax rate from 21% to 28% and increasing the capital gains tax to 44.5%.
Taborville also criticized the current state of Social Security.
“No, most people don't get Social Security,” he said. “That's just too bad. Social Security was a tax scam that was put on the American people years ago. We'll take care of you in your old age.”
Current estimates suggest the federal government has $93.1 trillion in unfunded liabilities related to entitlement programs such as Social Security.
“If I put the money I'm putting into Social Security into a 401(k) it would be worth 10, 15, 20, 30 times what it is now,” he continued. “It's a sad place to be. The federal government doesn't know what to do with people's money, yet they want more money.”
According to a report by the Social Security and Medicare Trust Board, the Social Security Trust Fund will be depleted in 2035.
