‘Sending our very best’: Tuberville announces appointments to U.S. Service Academies



Many young Alabama residents are looking forward to bright futures serving their country after Senator Tommy Tuberville today announced the appointments of 11 individuals to the United States Military Academy.

“America's national security depends on brave young people who answer the call to enlist in the military,” said Rep. Tuberville (R-Auburn). “Being appointed to a United States Military Academy is a great honor that comes with great sacrifice. These students have worked incredibly hard to get to this point, and there is no doubt that Alabama is sending out the best.”

“It is an honor to nominate Alabamians for this appointment and I have no doubt they will continue to make our state and country proud.”

A complete list of students who received and accepted cadet appointments through Taborville's office can be found below.

United States Air Force Academy:

Barrett Grant, Briarwood Christian High School, Pelham, Alabama, son of Melanie and Gerald Grant

United States Naval Academy:

Daveen Choi: Daughter of Nam-Soon Choi and Eun-Ju Bae, Lovelace Academy Magnet Program High School, Montgomery, Alabama

Branham Carmichael Lloyd: son of Bert and Leslie Lloyd, Mountain Brook High School, Mountain Brook, Alabama

Grayson Wood, Auburn High School, Auburn, Alabama, son of Jennifer and Brian Wood


United States Military Academy:

Linda Andrell, daughter of Rayna and Raymond Andrell, Slocombe High School, Slocombe, Alabama

Charles Grigsby: Grissom High School, Huntsville, Alabama, son of Michael and Jo Ann Grigsby

Aidan Abboud, Kwajalein High School, Mobile, Alabama, son of Mary Elaine Abboud

Connor Hofbauer: St. Andrews High School, Auburn, Alabama, son of Lutz and Gina Hofbauer

Jackson Seidman: Auburn High School, Auburn, Alabama, son of Mindy and Bruce Seidman

Jordan Wilson, of Auburn, Alabama, is a West Point scholarship recipient to the Georgia Military Academy. He is the son of Kelly and Robert Wilson.

Gary Lane Black: Born in Hoover, Alabama. Graduated from Cumberland Valley High School. Son of Kevin and Edith Kimberly Black.

Military academy appointees go through an extensive process to receive their nomination: Applicants pass the required ACT and SAT exams and submit letters of recommendation, school transcripts and required applications.

After graduation, students must serve five years of active duty.
