A YCSO sergeant was first on the scene and encountered the stabbing suspect, Lauren Levinson, 33, on the street near the home, said Christine Green, YCSO director of public affairs and government relations. Levinson was taken into custody without incident.

The sergeant then entered the residence where the stabbing occurred and found the suspect's mother and father suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Levinson's mother was seriously injured, suffering multiple stab wounds in her back, and her husband had been stabbed multiple times in the arm.

The suspect's older brother, who had been called to help by one of the parents, was at the scene and assisted the sergeant in administering life-saving measures to Levinson's mother and father, including stemming the flow of blood from a wound in her torso and applying a tourniquet to her father's arm to preserve his lung function.

Once the scene was safe, Sedona Fire Department personnel arrived and took over life-saving measures.

Levinson's mother was airlifted to Flagstaff Medical Center's trauma center. Levinson's father was taken by ambulance to Verde Valley Medical Center for treatment. Their conditions are currently unknown.

Detectives and evidence technicians from the YCSO Criminal Investigations Bureau took over the scene and continued to investigate the stabbing.
