Video footage shows California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom blaming Republicans and conservative media for the state's failures during his “State of the State” address on Tuesday.
Governor Newsom spoke about the issues facing residents in Democratic-controlled areas during a State of the State address. “The right-wing media's stories about lawless blue cities and blue states go on and on,” he said, according to a video circulating on social media. “In reality, California's violent crime rate is about half what it was in the 1990s.”
The governor went on to argue that California's “values and our way of life are an antidote to the poisonous populism of the right and the fear and anxiety felt by so many today.”
Governor Newsom touted California as a model for the world. “The whole world is looking to California to see what's possible. Now we can overcome every conceivable difference to live together, progress together and thrive together,” he said.
