Bruce Pearl critiques ‘Gaza Solidarity Encampments’ on college campuses across America

Auburn University men's basketball coach Bruce Pearl has continued to voice his thoughts on an issue that has hit close to home over the past week: the conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Columbia University will switch to mostly hybrid classes for the rest of the semester after the university's president was forced to call the NYPD to disperse a “pro-Palestinian encampment.”

Similarly, at least 45 people were arrested and charged with trespassing at Yale University, while a group of protesters barricaded themselves inside a building at California State Polytechnic University.

The national organization Students for Justice in Palestine has announced that it will begin occupying campus grounds across the country, replicating the Columbia solidarity camp situation.

Pearl endorsed the group's message and urged its followers to “take them at their word” when they say things like “occupy the university.”

“Again, please take these people at their word: 'For the people of Gaza, we will occupy the universities and force the university authorities to invest!' Hamas and the people of Gaza have attacked Israel, killed 1,200 people and are currently holding hundreds of innocent people hostage. Our universities need to teach the truth and protect students from these lies and harassment! We must openly love our country, stand on the side of good and evil, support our friends around the world and not be afraid to stand up to terrorists and enemies who threaten us!” Pearl tweeted.
