Alabama residents to get first dibs on MLB’s Rickwood Field game tickets

Last year, it was announced that Major League Baseball would host an MLB “Field of Dreams” game at Birmingham's historic Rickwood Field as a tribute to Willie Mays and the Negro Leagues.

Now, the league has announced that fans who want to attend the June 20 game between the St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants will have the opportunity to enter a lottery for tickets.

Tickets will be available to Alabama residents only and are determined by local zip code.

The league has also partnered with the city of Birmingham, offering around a quarter of its 8,300 limited seats to local community and youth organisations.

Two days earlier, on June 18, there will also be a minor league game between Montgomery and Birmingham teams, who will be known by their original Negro League names, the Montgomery Greysox and the Birmingham Black Barons, the first two teams to play at Rickwood.

Tickets go on sale to the general public for minor league games on Wednesday, April 24, while fans can attend major league games. MLB.com You have a chance to buy tickets.
