Scottie Scheffler captured his second green jacket with a commanding four-under-par final round on Sunday at August National Golf Club.
Scheffler, who has always been open about his deep faith and belief that there are things far more important than golf scores, shared a powerful message in an interview while once again wearing green.
“A friend told me this morning…My victory is assured at the cross.”

“I was sitting with my guys this morning and I was feeling a little overwhelmed and I told them I wish we didn't want to win so badly, that would make our mornings easier,” Scheffler said.
“I love to win, but I hate to lose, I really do. In the biggest moments on Sunday when I had the lead, I really wanted to win. But this morning my buddy stood on the cross telling me my victory was assured. That's a very special feeling, to know that it's assured forever, that whether I win or lose this tournament, my identity is secured forever.”
Scheffler spoke earlier this week about the “selfish” side of golf in terms of what it takes to be a top player, saying he doesn't want golf to define who he is as a person.
“I believe in one Creator. I was called to come here, do my best, compete and give glory to God. That's it.”

“Golf is definitely a selfish sport so hopefully that doesn't define me too much. You play alone and when you're on your best, people around you ask a lot of you and you have to be selfish with your time. It's not easy to say no but you have to learn how to say no to certain people,” he said.
“Golf is a big part of my life, but it doesn't define me. I'm a man of faith, I believe in a Creator. I believe in Jesus. I think that's what defines me the most. I feel like I've been given a platform to compete and showcase my talents. It's hard to explain that feeling, but I think that's what defines me the most. I believe in one Creator. I was called to come here, do my best, compete and give glory to God. That's it.”
Scheffler will continue to win golf tournaments, but he says there's something bigger that matters to the No. 1 golfer in the world.
