The Alabama Crimson Tide are just getting started in the Cullen DeBoer era, and they’re off to a better start than many expected in their first offseason.
From a recruiting standpoint, something many around DeBoer were concerned about, the Tide are on a roll and continue to climb the rankings.
No one could question DeBoer's abilities as a football savant, given the fact that the former Washington head coach and South Dakota State native has won everywhere he's been.
But Fox Sports commentator Joel Klatt made a statement that raised eyebrows across the South.
“Alabama is just fine without Saban. Maybe adding DeBoer could raise the level, but that's a scary thing for the country,” Klatt said.
He also released a statistic so ridiculous you might not believe it: The Georgia Bulldogs are 50-4 in their last 54 games under coach Kirby Smart. They are 1-3 against Alabama in that same dominant stretch.
Certainly, Kirby Smart was prepared for Saban to retire.
But looking at the way things are going, Cullen DeBoer could be a headache for the entire college football world.
