It’s no secret that the situation on our southern border is a complete disaster, and the only person to blame for that is the Biden administration and the Secretary of Homeland Security they appointed to secure the border, Alejandro Mayorkas.

Border security has been and will continue to be my number one priority. I was instrumental in passing HR 2, the strongest border security bill ever passed by the House, and helped pass a Homeland Security Appropriations bill that included $2.1 billion to complete the southern border wall and $496 million for a record 22,000 new Border Patrol agents. In addition, in February, I fully supported the House's effort to impeach Representative Mayorkas for failing to do his job. Now it's time for the Senate to do its job and impeach him.

Secretary Mayorkas has done absolutely nothing to alleviate the crisis that the Biden Administration has created. President Biden inherited the lowest illegal immigration rate in 45 years, but three years into his presidency, the number of illegal immigrants streaming into our country is at an all-time high.

As of February 2024, over 9 million illegal immigrants have entered our country. That's the equivalent of 36 states in the United States. The situation at the border is a heightened national security threat, with over 160 people on the FBI's terrorist watch list entering our country at the southern border. And that's just the ones we catch. Not to mention the massive influx of crime caused by illegal immigrants. When are we going to be able to put up with this?

“When Secretary Mayorkas took office as Secretary of Homeland Security he took an oath to defend and protect our country, but he has completely failed to live up to that oath. He has blood on his hands, and it is past time that he be held accountable for his failure to do his job.

We must meet this crisis on all fronts and protect all Americans. I have fully supported the efforts of House Republicans to secure our southern border, but we cannot do it alone. The Senate must do its job and join us to send a clear message from the American people to the Biden Administration that this madness must stop.
